Requirements

  • Strong aptitude for diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of large truck and trailers.
  • Commercial Transport (Truck and Transport Mechanic) Journeyman Certificate (or Red Seal).
  • Heavy Truck and Trailer subject matter expert.
  • Heavy Duty Mechanic experience with on-highway trucks.
  • Self-starter able to work in a fast-paced, detailed, and process-driven environment.
  • Ability to work in a physical capacity, including heavy lifting and using tools throughout the shift.
  • Must have own tools (required tool list will be provided).
  • Class 5 driver's license with good drivers abstract.
  • Ability to effectively use standard computer programs such as Microsoft word and adobe

Nice To Haves

  • Class 1, Class 3, and MVI Certifications are a bonus (paid uplifts).

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance to diesel/gas engines, transmissions, rear ends, differentials, electrical/electronics, power systems, hydraulic systems, and other service work as required
  • Perform repairs as per manufacturer specification on all OEM Class 6,7,8 vehicles
  • Manage personal repair times
  • Update shop supervisor if technical assistance is required and/or additional repair time required
  • Maintain all web-based training requirements
  • Report on the maintenance/use of tools and shop equipment
  • Complete all required documentation
  • Tag all failed parts and return cores
  • Make warranty decisions as required
  • Utilize diagnostic programs such as Techlane to satisfy warranty requirements
  • Make decisions on part re-use/failure analysis
  • Contact outside vendors as needed for technical assistance or repair authorization
  • Road test – only with class 1/3 license
  • Complete repair Quality Inspection reports when required
  • Professional level of detail & care on repairs to ensure quality repairs are completed
  • Professional customer service when required
  • Comply with the Health and Safety Program Assignment of Responsibility duties as listed for “Worker”
