The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) State Equipment Fleet is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Automotive, Advanced Journey/Lead to help us Keep Alaska Moving! This role involves professionally maintaining all heavy-duty and light duty equipment and vehicles associated with the construction and maintenance of secondary roads, rural airports, and other user agency vehicles. The incumbent must be able to resolve unusual or complex equipment problems through a variety of techniques and methods, performing routine and specialized repair and maintenance. This includes diagnosing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engine and emission systems, as well as fuel injection, hydraulic systems, and brake systems (air and electrical) for light and heavy-duty equipment. As part of the State Equipment Fleet (SEF) team, you will directly impact the department's mission of “Keeping Alaskans Moving through Service and Infrastructure” by providing state agencies with safe, economical vehicles.
