About The Position

Sisson Contracting, Inc. is looking to hire a Shop Mechanic. This is a full-time position with a Monday-Friday work schedule. The role involves performing repairs and preventative maintenance on fleet trucks, company trucks, and all equipment. The mechanic will also be responsible for inspections, diagnosing and repairing various systems, and maintaining mechanical equipment. Additionally, the position requires keeping an up-to-date logbook of all maintenance activities and performing service calls for emergency breakdowns. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to multitask, work with limited supervision, and prioritize tasks effectively. A strong sense of pride and ownership in their work and in maintaining a clean and organized shop is desired.

Requirements

Knowledge and experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, heavy equipment, welding & fabrication
Must be a self-starter
Must be able to multitask
Ability to work under limited supervision
Ability to prioritize tasks and complete them in a timely manner
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

CDL – preferred but not required

Responsibilities

Perform repairs and assign preventative maintenance services.
Perform inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on fleet trucks, company trucks, and all equipment.
Keep an up-to-date log book and track all maintenance dates, due dates, and services.
Inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment.
Raise trucks and heavy parts, or equipment, using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves.
Troubleshoot operational issues and determine a plan of action to remedy them.
Install equipment and related components to meet specifications.
Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
