About The Position

Cascade Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a Diesel Fleet Mechanic to work on our truck fleet in Bend, Oregon. This position offers a Monday-Friday schedule from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with guaranteed overtime at time and a half after 40 hours a week. We provide competitive compensation starting at $33-$36/hr DOE, an annual safety bonus, and opportunities for growth with a commitment to promoting from within. A Commercial Driver’s license A or B CDL is preferred but not required, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment with on-the-job CDL training. Mechanic tools and a toolbox are required, though the shop also has tools available for use.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (Required)
  • Experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair
  • Provide personal tools.
  • Class B CDL OR the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment if required.
  • Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial Driver’s license A or B CDL is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and repairs vehicles with diesel engines
  • Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes along with minor and major repairs from A/C, hydraulics, electrical, welding, engine replacement, transmissions, etc.
  • Interprets diagnostic test results accurately
  • Writes detailed inspection reports and repair plans in our system
  • Collaborates with other diesel mechanics
  • Completes test drives to make sure the vehicle runs correctly
  • Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely
  • Communicate with drivers for issues in morning and afternoon
  • Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards
  • Follows all Waste Connections repair shop regulations and standards
