About The Position

Our client is looking for a Superintendent with experience in roadway earthwork and urban reconstruction. The role involves managing large roadway projects, with a specific emphasis on grading, sub-grading, preparing long strips of roadway, and excavation. The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to project schedules and specifications.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of roadway superintendent or Foreperson work experience leading heavy equipment crews (e.g. grader, trackhoe, backhoe, loader, crane, etc.).
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience and understanding of all phases of roadway / highway construction.
  • A minimum of 10 years of roadway, earth work, road winding type projects.
  • A minimum of 10 years of DOT roadway projects.
  • Roadway earthwork experience.
  • Urban reconstruction experience.
  • Experience with large roadway work (e.g. $70 Million large).
  • Experience must include grading, sub grading, prepping long strips of roadway for construction, excavation, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, enforce, and carry out Safety Policies.
  • Create Job Hazard Analysis for assigned tasks and perform safety inspections.
  • Read and understand plans, specifications and local building codes.
  • Schedules and documents all required inspections, quality testing, or other compliance requirements.
  • Comply with Dust Control, SWPPP, and environmental requirements.
  • Complete daily reports including, employee hours, quantities completed, and daily diary.
  • Read and understand project baseline schedules and generate three-week construction schedules weekly.
  • Schedule and order materials, inspections, equipment and work force in order to meet project schedules, productions and specifications.
  • Directly supervise jobsite crews to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
  • Confers with and directs personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job including basic understanding of equipment limits and design purposes.
  • Manage all day-to-day operations on the project and keep the project management team apprised.
