About The Position

VINCI Construction Grands Projets Canada is seeking a Heavy Civil Intern to support the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program. This program involves designing and building a new deep-water intake in Lake Ontario to improve the plant's cooling system. The project includes a 5 km-long tunnel, two vertical shafts, and an offshore modular intake structure. The project's proximity to an active nuclear site necessitates rigorous safety, planning, and coordination standards.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• Interest in tunneling, heavy civil construction, underground works
• Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar is an asset

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of civil engineering documents, basic calculations, and technical notes.
• Contribute to estimating activities, quantity checks, and early cost evaluations.
• Help compile schedules of values, update risk logs, and draft engineering summaries.
• Take part in developing construction planning materials, procurement lists, and initial subcontract documentation.
• Attend design coordination meetings and produce follow-up notes as needed.
• Create simple visual content such as charts, diagrams, and overview slides for internal discussions.
• Assist with building preliminary schedules and reviewing early project risks.
