Heavy Capacity Forklift Operator – Steel Industry
About The Position
MLB Workforce is seeking an experienced Heavy Capacity Forklift Operator for a full-time, in-person position in San Antonio, Texas. This is an industrial material-handling role—not a standard warehouse forklift position. The operator will use equipment with approximately 33,000 pounds of lifting capacity to move and handle heavy steel products and must have experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts or comparable equipment. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, with some overtime available. Pay is $24.00–$26.00 per hour, based on experience, with a monthly plant employee incentive based on plant profitability and total tons of steel shipped. The opportunity is described as stable and long-term, with weekly pay.
Requirements
- Previous experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts or similar-size industrial equipment; three years of heavy-capacity forklift experience is required.
- Experience safely moving large, heavy, or oversized loads.
- Strong understanding of load capacity, load balance, and safe material handling.
- Experience working around heavy industrial equipment.
- Ability to perform required equipment inspections.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- One year of experience at a steel processing or fabrication facility is required.
- One year of experience loading and unloading flatbed trailers is required.
- High school education or equivalent is required.
- Availability for the night shift is required; the listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM.
- Experience operating only standard warehouse forklifts does not meet the experience requirements.

- Experience loading and unloading flatbed trucks and trailers.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a heavy-capacity forklift rated at approximately 33,000 pounds.
- Move, stage, load, and unload heavy steel products.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers safely and efficiently.
- Properly position and secure loads.
- Perform required pre-shift equipment inspections.
- Follow established safety procedures and facility requirements.
- Remain aware of pedestrians, equipment, and surrounding operations.
- Assist with general material-handling duties as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
