About The Position

The Dixon Group is hiring a Heavy Assembler in Chestertown, Maryland. The role builds and tests mechanical assemblies, prepares metal components and piping for welding, and applies paint and protective coatings. It also includes building custom wooden shipping crates as needed and supporting plant projects and team needs. The position works from engineering drawings, shop specifications, work orders, blueprints, and production prints to help ensure quality before products ship. Steel-toe shoes are required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong hands-on mechanical ability and experience operating standard hand and power tools.
• Ability to accurately follow shop orders, mechanical schematics, and production specifications.
• Pride in quality craftsmanship and strict adherence to safety and process standards.
• Steel-toe shoes are required.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience in production assembly, fabrication, or mechanical work.
• Basic computer skills for shop tracking.

Responsibilities

• Build and functionally test mechanical assemblies, including Test Pumps, Air Tank Manifolds, Swivel Joints, and Loading Arms, according to engineering drawings and shop specifications.
• Sandblast, polish, and prepare metal components and piping for the welding team.
• Apply paint and protective coatings to production components.
• Construct custom wooden shipping crates for finished goods as needed.
• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and production prints.
• Support cross-functional plant projects and team needs.
