Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Estimator
About The Position
HTS Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Estimator to join their team. This role involves reviewing commercial construction plans and specifications for HVAC scope, performing takeoffs (either independently or using an outside service), and selecting appropriate HVAC equipment and specialty air-movement products. The Estimator will build quotes, estimates, bids, and proposal packages, directly supporting Outside Sales Engineers and eventually becoming a dedicated partner to a few of them. The position also requires identifying value-engineering opportunities, managing multiple bid deadlines, and coordinating with vendors and internal teams for order entry, documentation, and project administration. The primary tools used will be Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff for plan review and takeoffs, Microsoft Office, and manufacturer selection tools, with a future transition to a dedicated rep order management platform. The current project mix is primarily hotels and schools, with high-volume estimators handling over 150 bids per month on projects typically valued between $50,000 and $120,000+.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff for plan review and takeoffs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with manufacturer pricing/equipment-selection tools
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent bid deadlines
- Ability to coordinate with vendors and internal teams
Nice To Haves
- Experience with an outside takeoff service
- Experience in the HVAC industry
- Familiarity with a dedicated rep order management platform
Responsibilities
