About The Position

Assists in heat treat applications for titanium, nickel based alloys, stainless, and alloy steels. Assists with the operation, adjustment, and routine maintenance of all furnace controllers. Straightens metal plates, weldments, and structural shapes or preheats them preparatory to welding or bending. Duties include the ability to move parts on and off pallets, read and interpret shop order instructions, specifications, and other written and verbal instructions, load and unload furnaces, and place work pieces into heating furnaces for specified periods. The role involves learning to perform hardness inspection and read conversion tables (ASTM E140), prepare couples, and grind parts. A strong understanding and knowledge of company procedures and work instructions are required. The position also requires maintaining a safe and organized workstation and adherence to all company policies, safety guidelines, and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be certified to operate a forklift to approved O.S.H.A. standards.
  • Must meet the requirements pertaining to Vision Acuity Testing under the Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
