About The Position

The Heat Treat Finish Operator I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting heat treatment processes to ensure metal components meet established quality, safety, and performance standards. This role involves operating specialized equipment, monitoring production conditions, and following detailed procedures to maintain consistency and accuracy throughout operations. The operator assists in verifying product integrity through inspections and process checks while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements. Training is provided to develop the foundational skills and knowledge needed for success in the role. Strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and a willingness to learn are key to contributing to efficient, high-quality manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • No previous training required. On-the-job training is provided.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift in a manufacturing environment with elevated temperatures, industrial noise, and exposure to heat treat equipment.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, squat, and move between workstations and machinery.
  • Regularly lifting, carrying, and moving materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements, including grasping, pulling, and pushing, while demonstrating strong manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination.
  • Adequate visual acuity is required to monitor equipment, read gauges, and inspect parts for quality standards.
  • Ability to monitor machinery both visually and audibly, respond to process changes, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Ability to tolerate varying temperatures.
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including heat-resistant gear and safety equipment, at all times.
  • Candidates must have the ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements, including grasping, pulling, and pushing, while demonstrating strong manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination.

  • Employees may be required to work near heated equipment and must be able to tolerate varying temperatures.
  • The role involves reaching, handling materials, and moving objects short distances.
  • Required personal protective equipment (PPE), including heat-resistant gear and safety equipment, must be worn at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Operates high voltage machinery; operation of OSI Furnace, Pickle Line, Solo Furnaces, Vacuum Furnace and Temper Furnace.
  • Operate at least one of six of the following production lines: EDM wire machine, Sandblast and Shot peen machines, Bruniton Paint booth, Paint Dots, Laser Engraving, and the Slide sight installation station.
  • Processes firearm parts, adhering to established policies and procedures, to meet Beretta U.S.A. standards and military specifications.
  • Loads firearm parts onto racks for processing.
  • Monitors dials and gauges to ensure that tanks and lines contain proper levels of methanol, nitrogen, acids, and salt.
  • Performs heat treatment process according to recipe book specifications as set forth by Beretta U.S.A. Corp.
  • Performs hardness inspection to ensure that products meet quality standards and tempers non-conforming parts to bring up to standard.
  • Monitors voltage, temperature, and amperes to ensure proper electrical conductivity in the heat treating process.
  • Assist in managing hazardous waste at facility as needed. Must have initial and annual Hazardous Waste Management and Shipping training.
  • Adds and removes chemicals from machines.
  • Sweeps floor and cleans work area at the end of the shift, or as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
