About The Position

Weyerhaeuser is searching for an Heat Energy Supervisor to join their new Timberstrand facility in Monticello, AR. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position and reports to the Power/Plant Engineer. A qualified candidate would have a thorough comprehensive knowledge of boilers and supporting equipment. As well as a strong aptitude for processes and techniques to safely coordinate repairs, modify, install and maintain boiler/powerhouse equipment. This position would also be responsible for coaching, developing and leading the Powerhouse team.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or a diploma in Engineering Technology is preferred with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
  • Boiler Licenses from the State of Arkansas or ability to obtain.
  • Previous team leadership experience.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with and without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work closely with supervisors, millwrights, electricians, and others; be a team player/leader; good verbal and written communication skills; and demonstrate positive attitude.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Show proficiency in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards.
  • Knowledge of lockout procedures.
  • Maintain a clean work station, and exhibit good performance, safety and attendance records.
  • Willingness to support a 24/7 operation as needed by the business.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the operation of a high-pressure steam boiler that is fired with wood waste supporting a Siemens Turbine Generator. Control steam pressure, fuel infeed, water chemical treatment and emission control.
  • Coordinate the schedule and work of other Powerhouse Engineers, and work closely with Shift Supervisor, Chemical Suppliers, Yard Drivers, Maintenance Technicians and the Operations team.
  • Lead and work with a team of powerhouse engineers, and other maintenance personnel, to maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade the boiler to maximize boiler efficiency for the Monticello complex and provide support for facility systems in a safe manner, while contributing to corporate, plant, and departmental goals.
  • Work with the powerhouse and maintenance team to deliver preventative and routine maintenance on powerhouse equipment, troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical problems, and work on capital projects including upgrading and installation of equipment.
  • Manage work orders, inventories (parts/chemicals), and tools.
  • Operate and maintain RTO, air compressors and diesel back-up generator as needed.
  • Develop SOP for greenfield powerhouse start up.
  • Fill in for plant engineer/powerhouse manager.
  • Train for succession plan.
  • Exemplify and promote exceptional safety standards; including but not limited to performing independent safety audits and attending monthly safety meetings.
  • Manage a team of powerhouse engineers, assistant powerhouse engineers and utilities; including mentoring and elevating performance of powerhouse engineers, as well as follow up on assignment of tasks through to closure of tasks.
  • Support crew by holding crew meetings, ordering and following up on purchases, overseeing/manning vacations, and managing time records.
  • Manage various projects, including coordinating work with various departments, supervisors and other parties as necessary.
  • Supervise and manage tools; rigging; part/tool inventory; and critical spare parts.
  • Manage work orders; modify equipment specifications; track, print/issue and update PM’s (preventative maintenance) through computerized maintenance management system, preferably SAP.
  • Conduct audits of “hot work” permits and file as needed.
  • Keep accurate records of all powerhouse activities to include Operator Driven Reliability (ODR).
  • Control and maintain pumps.
  • Monitor and help clear fuel blowers and feeders as needed.
  • Coordinate for Weld and repair steam, water and air piping; valves; pumps; filters; gauges; etc. as necessary.
  • Control fuel feed rate to maintain steam pressure and minimize emissions.
  • Operate conveyor controls to bring fuel into boiler; load hog fuel, and bark trucks.
  • Test water for chemical treatment needs, and controls chemical quantities for proper water treatment.
  • Order parts and materials necessary to complete job duties, including maintaining inventory of boiler chemical stock.
  • Unplug fuel surge bins and bridged fuel in the bunker.
  • Cleans fluidized bed area and keeps boiler area clean.
  • Clean baghouse area.
