About The Position

The Neighbor Care department at Community First! Village (CFV) supports residents in maintaining safe, healthy, and stable homes. The Healthy Living Coordinator is a key part of this team, conducting routine home inspections, coordinating pest control (including bed bug treatment), assessing units for preventative maintenance, and observing/reporting lease compliance concerns. This role also involves building relationships with residents and referring them to Supportive Services when needed. The Coordinator collaborates with Maintenance, Facilities, Property Beautification, and Supportive Services to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming community. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Property Manager, with typical hours of 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, and occasional nights/weekends. The role is based at Community First! Village in Austin, TX.

Requirements

  • Commitment to serving those who have experienced homelessness and personal alignment with MLF's vision, mission, core values, and goals.
  • Comfortable working within and reflecting MLF's faith-based organizational culture.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a structured accountability or residential compliance role (e.g., residential treatment, halfway house, sober living, adult protective services, transitional or supportive housing, reentry services).
  • Demonstrated ability to hold relational accountability, document interventions consistently, and communicate effectively within a team-based structure.
  • Strong data tracking and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution, particularly within vulnerable or formerly homeless populations.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills; ability to have difficult conversations with care and professionalism.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent written documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries while building genuine relationships.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to recover quickly from setbacks and shifting priorities.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to exercise sound judgment and work effectively as part of a coordinated team.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine unit inspections to assess cleanliness, habitability, and moisture levels.
  • Check all safety equipment including smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, and air filters.
  • Identify signs of pest infestation, mold, unregistered pets, and unauthorized occupants.
  • Identify and document unauthorized property modifications.
  • Submit work orders and coordinate with the Maintenance Team on repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Conduct move-out inspections, documenting damages and unit condition.
  • Assign and record a Healthy Home Score for each unit inspected.
  • Observe, document, and report all lease violations.
  • Support the execution of writs of possession by assisting in the cleanout of homes.
  • Coordinate with the Neighbor Administrator and Tech Admin to assist in posting lease violation notices.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between CFV and the contracted pest control company; schedule and oversee routine weekly treatments.
  • Communicate with neighbors regarding preparation requirements, scheduling, and follow-up for all pest control activity.
  • Coordinate and track bed bug treatments, roach cleanouts, and other one-time emergency pest treatments.
  • Supervise the Assisted Cleanout Program as an eviction prevention tool.
  • Facilitate the hiring of a cleaning company to clean neighbor homes.
  • Schedule follow-up inspections after cleaning is complete, and track progress.
  • Identify neighbors in need of cleanout assistance.
  • Cultivate a strong working relationship with the Supportive Services team; make timely referrals when a neighbor's health, mental health, or housing stability requires support.
  • Collaborate effectively across teams (Maintenance, Facilities, Property Beautification, Supportive Services) to coordinate follow-up, share observations, and contribute to a well-maintained community.
  • Maintain consistent records across all areas of responsibility: inspections, pest control, safety equipment, work orders, referrals, and cleanout activity.
  • Input daily data into the metrics system.
  • Track and analyze pest control treatment activity and associated costs.
  • Track and analyze preventative maintenance work order data.
  • Collaborate with the Data team to review trends and surface insights.
  • Respond to property emergencies during scheduled shifts.
  • Conduct well checks and coordinate with emergency services as needed; document all activity.
