About The Position

HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of youth by addressing health challenges through innovative programming. The Teens Make Health Happen (TMHH) Mentorship program in Palm Beach County, Florida, seeks near-peer mentors to implement a wellness club in high schools. Mentors will empower teens to make healthier choices, lead wellness programming, and serve as catalysts for sustainable change in their communities. This role offers hands-on experience in public health, education, and leadership development.

Requirements

• A commitment of 8+ hours each week to the mentorship for the entire academic year.
• Ability to travel to assigned sites, which may include distances of up to 40 miles within the Palm Beach County area.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be an undergraduate, graduate college student or a recent college graduate majoring in, or interested in public health, public policy, biology, nutrition, marketing, psychology, education, social work or other related fields.
• Motivated young adults who are passionate about mentoring teens and promoting health and wellness.
• In good academic standing with your college or university.
• A self-expectation and strong desire to grow personally and professionally as a leader in the community, and as a speaker who is comfortable in learning and presenting on health-related topics to a teen audience.
• Clearance of a background investigation and/or reference check.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships with teen wellness leaders and site partners to ensure effective delivery of HealthCorps’ programming.
• Collaborate with Regional Program Manager and other area mentors, participating in ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities.
• Assess schools’ health challenges and measure impact through needs assessments, reporting, and ongoing tracking.
• Plan and implement the successful delivery of the HealthCorps’ program, Teens Make Health Happen, committing to 8+ hours a week throughout the academic year.
• Host a Health Promoting Event at each school site and support regional events.
• Support and contribute to HealthCorps’ social media platforms by sharing program highlights, stories of impact, and photos.
• Prioritize health and wellness daily and ensure access to relevant, local health resources for students and staff.
• Represent HealthCorps in Palm Beach County, embodying the organization's values and serving as an asset in outreach efforts.
