About The Position

At CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy, our focus is patient-centered care. Our level I trauma center and academic medical center campus is designed to heal the body, mind, and spirit of every person in a more comfortable, less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services, heart and vascular care, emergency services, surgery, maternity, cancer care, and diagnostic imaging. As a Healthcare Support Tech, you will contribute to safety and provide essential hospital support while completing CNA coursework. Daily, you will assist with PPE, distribute/restock medical supplies, field calls, communicate with visitors, and relay information. You will actively participate in education to pass the CNA state exam, leading to a transition to a CNA role. Success in this role requires a strong commitment to safety and teamwork, excellent communication, proactive operational support, and dedication to CNA certification. Responsible for screening employees, patients, and guests before gaining admittance to our facilities.

Requirements

  • Certified Nursing Assistant: NE, within 6 - months
  • Basic Life Support - CPR

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a culture of safety by providing assistance to coworkers in use of personal protective equipment.
  • Distributes medical supplies and equipment to patient care areas.
  • Restocks supplies and rotates inventory.
  • Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, participates in providing a safe and therapeutic environment for the patient who is confused, impulsive, unable to perform teach back, unable to understand, or at risk for self-harm or injury.
  • Documents per policy in the healthcare record
  • Facilitates effective communication by fielding incoming calls, accepting and communicating with visitors, and relaying pertinent information to appropriate staff.
