Healthcare Podcast Host
About The Position
Renaissance Recovery is seeking a charismatic, authentic host to serve as the face and voice of its mental health, addiction, wellness, and recovery-focused podcast. The host will work with the marketing team to develop engaging episodes featuring clinicians, industry professionals, advocates, content creators, and members of the mental health and recovery community. Episodes may feature the host independently or in conversation with in-person or remote guests. The podcast aims to be natural rather than scripted or clinical, with a conversational and approachable tone balanced by information, perspective, education, and encouragement. Candidates with personal or meaningful lived experience related to mental health, addiction, sobriety, or recovery are encouraged to apply, particularly if comfortable discussing their experiences openly. The position involves hosting approximately four long-form video and audio episodes per month and attending on-site recording and content production approximately once per week in Orange County. Most preparation and collaboration can be completed remotely, but recording takes place in person. Compensation is $1,500–$2,000 per month. Professional appearance is expected while filming, in an environment intended to feel comfortable, natural, and representative of the communities Renaissance Recovery serves.
Requirements
- Comfort speaking on camera for extended periods, including conversations of approximately 60 minutes.
- Strong communication, interviewing, and storytelling skills.
- Charismatic, empathetic, and relatable on-camera presence.
- Comfort discussing mental health, addiction, sobriety, wellness, and recovery.
- Ability to communicate naturally without sounding overly scripted or corporate.
- Reliable availability to attend an in-person recording session approximately once per week in Orange County.
Nice To Haves
- Experience creating long-form video, podcast, YouTube, streaming, or similar content.
- Personal or meaningful lived experience related to mental health, addiction, or recovery.
- Previous podcast hosting or interviewing experience.
- Prior content creator experience.
- Existing social media presence or online community; follower count is not the primary consideration, and smaller but highly engaged communities are encouraged.
- Familiarity with behavioral health and recovery-related topics.
- Awareness of current pop culture, digital media, wellness, mental health, and recovery trends.
Responsibilities
- Host approximately four long-form video and audio podcast episodes per month.
- Attend on-site podcast recording and content production approximately once per week.
- Interview clinicians, behavioral health professionals, founders, advocates, influencers, content creators, and other guests.
- Prepare for upcoming guests and episode topics before recording.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop episode concepts, topics, and potential guests.
- Participate in pre-production planning and provide creative input on the podcast's direction.
- Film promotional content, podcast introductions, advertisements, and other supporting media as needed.
- Create conversations that are informative while remaining approachable and conversational.
- Share or cross-post podcast content through social media when appropriate.
- Represent Renaissance Recovery professionally while maintaining an authentic, relatable on-camera presence.
