About The Position

The Healthcare Planner is responsible for working collaboratively on a team to execute technical healthcare planning projects for entire campuses and/or major construction projects for the federal government. Guidon is well established doing federal healthcare planning work for the Dept of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Defense Health Agency clients. The position will work closely with firm leadership and the Federal Healthcare Practice Leader to institute/redefine Guidon standards on planning.

Requirements

  • Professional Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree and experience working on/in healthcare systems.
  • Work experience is more relevant than the specific degree.
  • Experience working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to execute design/construction projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare adjacencies, department planning criteria, design process understanding, cross discipline knowledge and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with federal healthcare criteria/standards and commercial standards including FGI and NFPA 99.
  • A working understanding of computer applications used in a professional design office such as Photoshop, AutoCAD/Revit and Sketchup
  • Ability to collaborate and share subject matter expertise with other team members in architecture and engineering staffs

  • Experience conducting early healthcare project planning and programming.
  • Experience applying LEAN principles to healthcare operations and healthcare design.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate, both graphically, written & orally, with a variety of stakeholders, including employees, clients, leadership, and government officials.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary campus healthcare planning projects.
  • Work within established project schedules, tasks and milestones to accomplish long-term planning projects.
  • Support marketing efforts to secure planning projects through solicitation responses, interviews and client meetings.
  • Participate in and facilitate design meetings, that culminate in recommended long-term campus plans for expanding healthcare services through design/construction projects.
  • Develop space programs and provide input on functional department layouts and adjacencies.
  • Represent the Firm with regard to design and design process-related issues to diverse stakeholders.
  • Engage and support staff development through project engagement, staff training and education.
  • Travel would be required to client healthcare sites.
