About The Position

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a talented Planner that will support ongoing construction operations within a local VA healthcare facility. SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 150 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations. This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal government employees and service members.

Requirements

  • In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
  • US Citizenship is Required.
  • AutoCAD and/or Revit experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with healthcare or clinical environments, procurement processes, and contract support services.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • In lieu of a qualifying degree, an additional six (6) years of relevant planning experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare planning.

Responsibilities

  • Assist VA staff with the preparation and ongoing maintenance of the Project Management Plan, Construction Management Plan, and Risk Management Plan.
  • Provide mini master planning services for specific functional areas, clinical service lines, and campus buildings.
  • Develop space planning documents, layouts, equipment lists, and project cost estimates.
  • Use AutoCAD and/or Revit to develop project programming documents.
  • Participate in Project Development Integrated Process Teams (IPTs).
  • Facilitate the development of technical documents required for procurement packages.
  • Conduct existing conditions assessments and space utilization analyses to support planning efforts.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff, facility leadership, engineering, and project stakeholders to define space and functional requirements.
  • Prepare architectural programming documents in accordance with VA design criteria, federal standards, and applicable healthcare planning guidelines.
  • Evaluate facility operations and workflows to support efficient space utilization and patient care delivery.
  • Review design documents for compliance with approved programming requirements and project objectives.
  • Assist in developing phased occupancy and decanting plans to support renovations while maintaining ongoing clinical operations.
  • Support capital planning initiatives by identifying facility deficiencies, future space needs, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings, site visits, and design reviews, documenting planning decisions and action items.
  • Coordinate planning activities with architects, engineers, consultants, and government stakeholders throughout project development.
  • Maintain planning documentation, databases, and project records in accordance with VA policies and contract requirements.
