About The Position

The Healthcare Institute is a week-long, residential, summer program designed for high-school students interested in a career in health sciences. The program mentors are Saint Mary’s students who will act as leaders during the program, facilitating small group discussions, helping organize activities, and building community among participants.

  • Living on campus is a requirement for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to applicants who are enrolled in a program that is within the Division of Integrated Health and Human Sciences (Nursing Science; Speech & Language Pathology; Autism Studies, Social Work)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible each week for the supervision and safety of 10 students, ages 14-18 in the residence hall, on field trips, and at all day/evening activities.
  • Assist assigned instructor with classes and (1) 90-minute class per day.
  • Responsible for assisting director/instructors with organized activities, talent shows and evening performances.
  • Responsible for assisting at registration, orientation and departure each week.
  • Serve as a role model for young adults.
  • Required attendance at a wrap-up session at the end of the program.
  • Required to reside and stay on campus during camp session.
