About The Position

The Healthcare Data Integration & Automation Developer will assess and support interoperability for the Texas Birth Defects Registry (TBIRDS), including the ingestion of electronic initial case reports (eICRs) and automatic population of selected data fields. The role will document programming scripts, workflows, validation procedures, integration solutions, and related information to support ongoing maintenance, and will develop a report or system requirements document describing the functions and workflows needed for TBIRDS interoperability. The developer will build, test, document, and maintain programs using SAS, Python, R, or similar statistical software for multiple branch processes, including dashboards and automation to integrate eICR data into TBIRDS. This work may support case triage for clinical review and automated data ingestion. The role will validate automated workflows, standardization, linkage, and processing methods; troubleshoot issues; and refine solutions. The developer will also support registry modernization and electronic health data integration, collaborating with BDESB staff and technical partners to identify requirements, document processes and limitations, and recommend approaches for future interoperability projects. The position is a contract role based in Austin, Texas, with four days remote and one required onsite day. Interviews are in person.
