About The Position

The Health & Welfare (H&W) Practice Leader is responsible for meeting overall retention and service targets for the EB Line of Business. Reporting to the HUB President, this executive-level position is a strong client relationship manager and employee benefits expert. Further, the role is responsible for maintaining and growing our carrier and vendor relationships. This role is highly visible within the Employee Benefits operation. In partnership with the EB Sales Leader for HUB MWW, you will provide overall leadership for the Employee Benefits Line of Business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, and relevant professional experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for success in the role.
  • Life, Accident, and Health Insurance License required
  • 10+ years of experience within employee benefits, human resources, healthcare, insurance, or a related field
  • Be a hands-on manager who enjoys mentoring and direct management of staff
  • Proven client service record in retaining business and improving cross-sell results
  • Effective employee development procedures which address training, processes and procedures, E&O avoidance, continuing education, recruiting, hiring, and performance counseling
  • A consultative, positive, and resourceful approach to dealing with prospects, clients, and associates
  • An ability to help our business owners evolve our service and strategic delivery to move with changing markets. We support clients across all size segments including small group, middle market, and key accounts (national and international footprints) up to 10,000+ employees.
  • A passion to seek emerging strategies and vendors to support them
  • A drive to complement a strong team and supplement roles where needed
  • Ability to work with national accounts and companies with multi-national footprints
  • Strong Financial Statement and Budget Literacy to not only support the management of profit and loss, but to communicate our value to financially-minded customers and vendors

Responsibilities

  • Lead the EB Leadership Team which consists of the operational leads, business segment owners, director of analytics. and other members of the team
  • Oversee full P&L accountability, ensuring financial targets are achieved and aligning operational decisions with organizational strategy.
  • Direct annual budgeting and forecasting processes, driving effective allocation of resources and cost management initiatives.
  • Lead capacity management strategies to optimize workforce planning, service delivery, and scalability in alignment with business demand.
  • Cultivate and strengthen high-impact relationships with carriers and marketplace partners to maximize value, innovation, and business growth.
  • Serve as an active member of the Executive Management Team (EMT), contributing to enterprise-wide strategy, governance, and organizational leadership.
  • Be accountable for retention and service (bonus set by cross-sell and account rounding)
  • Provide thought leadership for technical aspects of Employee Benefits
  • Implement best practices for account stewardship
  • Be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, training, and managing EB service leaders
  • Go do the “tough stuff” and position your experts and resources to be the best for a client
  • Optimize workflows and staffing
  • Play a key role at finalist meetings as the EB Expert
  • Activate and strategically deploy specialty services and experts to win business, secure existing accounts, and evolve multi-year plans for our customers
  • Develop long-lasting relationships with carriers, key vendor partners, and other stakeholders and interface as needed to grow business and resolve issues
  • Coordinate team to deliver necessary shared services
  • Along with the EB Sales Leader, co-own/manage the EB Budget for the region
  • Establish a positive service culture dependent on maximizing the strengths of each team member
  • Be responsible, along with President and CSO, for implementing and executing on the Critical Path Process (HUB’s strategic account planning process)
  • Positively and proactively represent HUB in meetings, seminars, trade shows, and networking events
  • Lead innovation and strategy for the overall practice to ensure continuous development of EB products and service offerings aligned with identified needs and future needs of EB customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
