About The Position

Health unit coordinators play a key role on each unit by providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for patients, families, and visitors. This role manages and facilitates the day-to-day operations of a unit. Responsibilities include answering phones, organizing files, ordering supplies, handling correspondence, managing databases, and providing general support to patients, family members, and other staff. The Health Unit Coordinator is often considered the backbone of the unit, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. This position utilizes excellent communication and organizational skills to support patient care, collaborates with the clinical team to coordinate all aspects of patient care including patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and uses a high level of attention to detail to maintain accurate electronic health records and perform other duties of a clerical nature.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required
  • 1 year of experience in a medical or customer service environment or experience of a similar nature Required

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in a medical environment Preferred
