The Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute cares for patients with a variety of heart, vascular and thoracic diseases and provides the highest level of patient care, innovative treatments and a welcoming environment to all. The J5-6 Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), a 12-bed unit, provides specialized care for postoperative cardiac and thoracic patients. Common procedures include coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair or replacement, MAZE procedures, myectomy, Ross procedures, as well as thoracic surgeries such as lobectomy, pneumonectomy, and esophagectomy. A caregiver in this position works day/evening rotation, 7:00am—7:30pm or 3:00pm—11:30pm.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
One year of experience in a customer service-related role
Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Nice To Haves

College degree
Microsoft Office experience

Responsibilities

Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
