About The Position

Join the dedicated team on Cleveland Clinic's H80 Internal Medicine Unit, where caregivers provide compassionate, high-quality care to a diverse patient population. H80 specializes in treating patients with a variety of complex medical conditions, including congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, pneumonia, diabetes, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, myocardial infarction and angina. H80 – General Medicine/Telemetry is a collaborative acute care unit dedicated to providing exceptional care for adults with various health concerns, that may include congestive heart failure, diabetes or other complex medical needs. H80 offers Health Unit Coordinators a dynamic and rewarding environment where you will build expertise in clinical assessment, care coordination, and patient-centered care while working within a supportive team that promotes professional growth and development. As a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will play an essential role in creating a welcoming and organized environment for patients, families and visitors. By providing exceptional customer service and utilizing your strong administrative and clerical skills, you will help coordinate the daily operations of the unit, support the healthcare team and contribute to a seamless patient care experience. Your attention to detail and commitment to teamwork will help ensure caregivers can focus on delivering the highest quality care to every patient.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Nice To Haves

  • College degree
  • Microsoft Office experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
