About The Position

This position is for a Health Unit Coordinator in the Birth Center, working on a PRN basis with shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends as needed. The role involves maintaining unit resources and supplies, utilizing the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for various patient-related tasks, coordinating department activities, and performing receptionist duties. The Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for protecting patient confidentiality and may also handle patient follow-up appointments, TempTrak monitoring, and CCHD monitoring. Specific responsibilities for the Ob/Gyn department include preparing nursing staff schedules, coordinating with clinician scheduling teams and the surgery scheduling team, managing FMLA and short-term disability forms, and assisting with PTO requests and staff assignments. Attending required education and training is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Ability to use personal computer, printers, telephone, fax, and copy machines
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Health Unit Coordinator program certificate is preferred
  • Previous clerical experience in a medical related field is preferred
  • Microsoft Office computer skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains unit resources and supplies.
  • Utilizes EHR for patient verification, scheduling, admissions/transfers/discharges, completing forms and documentation, and managing incoming charts/records within the department.
  • Coordinates department activities.
  • Extensive computer work.
  • Communicates with all levels of staff.
  • Receptionist duties.

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Prepares nursing staff schedules.
  • Coordinates with clinician scheduling team to keep clinician schedules up to date
  • Coordinates OBG clinician schedules with the surgery scheduling team
  • Manages FMLA forms/short-term disability.
  • Assists with managing PTO requests and staff assignments.
  • Attends education and training as required.
