About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) on Unit 10LM at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center is a full-time position responsible for communication, coordination, record management, and administrative support within the Telemetry: IU 10LM Neurology Medicine department. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth operations and effective patient care by facilitating communication between the healthcare team, patients, and families, maintaining accurate records, and providing essential administrative assistance.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of clerical experience, preferably in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare setting.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to enter and look up data accurately.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, relay messages, and manage communication systems.
• Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients.
• Facilitate communication between the healthcare team, patients, and families.
• Maintain and update electronic health records.
• Prepare and manage patient charts and other documentation.
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of medical records.
• Schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures.
• Order medical supplies and manage inventory.
• Transcribe doctor's orders and other medical documentation.
• Greet and assist patients and visitors.
• Address patient inquiries and concerns.
• Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy.
