Marymount Hospital’s Neuroscience Medical Unit includes 3 East, 3 West, and 3 South, with mostly private rooms. As our stroke specialty unit, we provide neurology and medical-surgical care for patients with a wide range of neuroscience diagnoses, including stroke/TIA, seizures, brain and spine disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions. You will work closely with our stroke coordinator and have opportunities for additional learning, strengthening the assessment and critical-thinking skills that help you recognize subtle changes and influence patient outcomes. This team is known for strong assessment skills, a nurturing environment, and reliable teamwork. As Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will offer unparalleled customer service to patients, families and visitors to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience. Using your administrative and clerical skills, you will ensure an efficient operational flow of the department, allowing your fellow caregivers to continue providing optimal patient care. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
