About The Position

The Health Unit Coordinator serves as the primary receptionist and concierge for the unit, creating the initial impression for guests (patients or visitors) at Aurora on France Senior Living and Transitional Care Unit. This role manages the welcome, greeting, check-in, and check-out processes. The position involves close interaction with patients, families, physicians, and the multidisciplinary team in a highly organized and professional manner, aiming to ensure an exceptional patient experience through effective customer service, problem-solving, and communication skills. The Health Unit Coordinator also performs various clerical functions, including managing patient charts, coordinating data flow, and providing general hospital information and directions. The role is located in Edina, MN.

Requirements

1 year customer service experience

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or equivalent
2+ years customer service experience
Previous HUC, administrative or hospitality industry experience

Responsibilities

Greets patients, visitors, physicians and other hospital personnel in a professional and positive manner using ADIET skills.
Answers patient intercoms/call light promptly and relays requests in a timely manner.
Answers phones promptly and courteously, listening to and anticipating customer needs.
Protects confidentiality of protected health information.
Orders patient meals per patient procedure daily.
Coordinates activities of unit to support patient care staff.
Performs telephone message taking and directs communication in a timely fashion.
Effectively uses communication systems for both routine and emergency transactions.
Maintains unit information sources such as daily census sheets, brainboards, diet sheets, and schedules in a confidential manner.
Interacts with other health care team members, patients and public in a prompt and courteous manner.
Orders and maintains adequate stock of office supplies.
