PRN Health Unit Coordinator I - Obstetrics
About The Position
The OB Health Unit Coordinator is a key administrative role within the obstetrics (OB) department, ensuring the smooth operation of the unit and supporting medical staff in delivering high-quality patient care. The coordinator is responsible for managing communication, maintaining patient records, and organizing essential unit activities. In addition, the OB Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for accurately collecting, verifying, and processing information related to births occurring within a healthcare facility. This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations for vital records reporting and works closely with families, healthcare providers, and government agencies to ensure timely and accurate documentation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Notary Public within 4 months of hire
- Minimum of one year's previous experience in a clerical or receptionist position
- Ability to read and write
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to relate to various groups of professionals
- Must be able to interact with department visitors/staff
- Must be able to operate word processing equipment
- Must be able to perform data entry into Meditech
Nice To Haves
- Ability to comprehend medical terminology is preferred
- Hospital and computer experience or satisfactory completion of training program preferred
