About The Position

This position is with the 628th Medical Group, located at Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Duties include serving as an intake worker for crisis evaluation and/or routine intake evaluation, assessing patients' mental status to distinguish the type of case and discriminate between routine, complex, and/or emergency cases. The role facilitates intake and triage of patients by receiving phone calls and/or prospective patients in person to obtain demographic, historical, and clinical information. The position also assists in planning and scheduling mental health patient treatment activities and aids with reports, technical papers, program evaluation, patient outcome data, reports on successful completion of treatment, and other outcome measurements for assessing quality management and performance improvement.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position is designated as moderate risk involving Public Trust.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation including a credit check to determine suitability for Federal employment and/or the position.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing.
  • Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Immunization screening is required.
  • Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
  • Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

  • This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.

  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential.
  • The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.

  • One year of specialized experience which includes conducting health screenings, updating patient medical records, and providing administrative support.
  • One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Health Information Technology, Healthcare Management, Health Sciences, etc.
  • A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
