Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Healthcare Administration or in a related field.
  • 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare, academic medicine, research operations, analytics, or institutional strategy
  • Demonstrated experience in PowerPoint and Excel (including advanced functions, such as complex formulas, pivot tables, graphing).
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to translate concepts into practice.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights, and communicate these insights to different stakeholders with varying priorities and goals
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Demonstrated ability to overcome roadblocks and develop consensus in solutions where there may be a number competing interests or viewpoints.
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of departments across the School of Medicine.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high quality product on time consistently.
  • Experience with databases, data analysis, statistical and specialized software.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL Developer, Microsoft Visio, Tableau and Filemaker is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leads analysis, monitoring, and administration of research investments across the Research Enterprise and provides recommendations regarding resource allocation, benchmarking, and investment opportunities.
  • Supports institutional leaders in evaluating and implementing strategic research investments aligned with mission priorities.
  • Responsible for the development and continued refinement of research benchmarks and metrics, collaborating with institutional Leadership to evaluate performance using these benchmarks, implementing operational adjustments as necessary.
  • Reviews operational standing across all Research Mission areas, identifies opportunities for enhanced efficiency, and analyzes and presents recommendations.
  • Partners with CTSI leadership to oversee financial management of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, including pre- and post-award management, budget development, and compliance monitoring.
  • Oversees the Human Resource activities of the Office of Science and Research, providing guidance to OSR Leadership.
  • Liaises directly with central HR in human resource programs that include: compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Advises leadership on workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Establishes annual operational goals focused on efficiency, strategic initiatives, and financial performance.
  • Leads select cross-functional initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency, enhance research performance, and support long-term research sustainability efforts.
  • Build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with all OSR Leaders and external partners arriving at decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
  • Uphold institutional policies and standards, ensuring mission goals are always at the forefront of all relevant decisions.
  • Engages leaders, internal and external to OSR, regarding requirements to deliver on strategies that will maximize output and minimize cost.
