About The Position

Pond & Company is seeking an experienced Site and Safety Professional to join their growing Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety Team. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of related experience and a desire to grow, collaborate, and innovate. This role provides direct support to the Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety VP, focusing on the identification and selection of electronic services, tools, and vendors for managing complex efforts such as medical monitoring, injury and illness prevention and tracking, and safety training for clients across the United States. The successful candidate will also be Professional Safety Certified from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Projects will span multiple markets and geographies, offering opportunities for professional growth. The company is looking for an independent self-starter. This position is responsible for managing all EHS requirements for specific contracts, including those with USACE, Oil & Gas, commercial, and industrial clients, as well as employees performing tasks on assigned projects.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related field project experience.
  • Possess or be in the process of pursuing a Professional Safety Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals or equivalent.
  • Current Health and Safety training certificates required for the tasks being completed on each project, including 30 Hours OSHA training, First Aid, CPR, and BBP training.
  • Maintain competency through having taken 8 hours of documented formal, on-line, or self-study safety and health related coursework every year.
  • Designated as the regulatory and client-required competent person, depending on job complexity, size, and other pertinent factors.
  • Follows a safety professional career path and obtains the related professional certifications.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a Department of Defense (DoD) background check for access on military installations and a Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) background check.
  • Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Must be able to travel freely on a passport or other official document.

  • BS from a four-year college or university is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Management of all EHS requirements for specific contracts, including USACE, Oil & Gas, commercial and industrial clients, as well as employees completing tasks on assigned projects.
  • Identification and selection of electronic services, tools, and vendors to manage complex efforts such as medical monitoring, injury and illness prevention and tracking, and safety training for clients across the United States.
  • Development of project-specific Accident Prevention Plans, Health and Safety Plans, Activity Hazard Analysis, Job Safety Analysis, and other supporting EHS documents.
  • Implementation of the USACE EM 385-1-1.
  • Maintenance of compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, FAA, state, local, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting internal and external health and safety training.
  • Conducting EHS reviews of all field projects that involve high-risk activities.
  • Stopping work activities that represent an imminent hazard to employees.
  • Identifying and implementing corrective actions to prevent all injuries and illnesses.
  • Leading injury and illness mishap and near-incident reporting and investigation, final reporting, corrective actions, and lessons learned development efforts.
  • Conducting field environmental, EHS reviews and developing follow-up reports for submission to Pond management and field team leadership.
  • Managing field efforts that include complex tasks involving higher risk hazards.
  • Mentoring junior level Site Safety and Health Officers (SSHOs).
  • Reviewing and approving Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) or Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
  • Completing a Department of Defense (DoD) background check for access on military installations and a Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) background check.
  • Performing assigned EHS tasks.
