About The Position

The Health Sciences Academic Advisor reports to the Assistant Director of Advising and is chiefly responsible for providing guidance and support for all students majoring in pre-allied health programs at Louisiana State University at Eunice. The purpose of this position is to support these students holistically by ensuring that best practices in student advising, career and academic coaching are followed, and working as a part of a supportive team in the Integrated Learning Center.

2 years' experience in admissions, advising, retention, and/or teaching in higher education

Responsibilities

Assist students in choosing the appropriate program and/or major and scheduling of courses.
Recommend courses of action for students seeking academic guidance.
Maintain student advising records.
Uphold the policies and procedures of the University as related to advisory duties.
Assist in developing self-efficacy by identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding academic success.
Work with students to learn strong time management and organization skills.
Motivate students to take ownership of their academic success.
Assist students with preparations for effective job searching including feedback on resumes and strategizing for a successful job interview.
Other duties as assigned.
