About The Position

This role is responsible for scheduling and implementing the organization's environmental, health, and safety (EHS) training program to safeguard employees and surrounding communities. This includes new hire orientation, job-specific training, and ongoing training to ensure compliance with all applicable EHS policies, procedures, and regulations. The position involves conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, industrial hygiene, and safety/health laws, standards, and regulations. Responsibilities also include responding to, investigating, and documenting all EHS incidents, collecting and analyzing environmental samples, and managing recordkeeping requirements for facility permits and regulatory reporting. The role requires building strong working relationships to support EHS initiatives and involves significant local commuting within Southern California (75% of time) to various facilities, as well as 10% travel to Colorado operations. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Science, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an EHS-based position (aggregate industry preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written (Required)
  • Strong computer skills including data management and presentation and experience in MS Office Suite (Required)
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks concurrently (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred)
  • Regulatory experience with CALOSHA Title 8 (Preferred)
  • Regulatory experience with OSHA 1910 and 1926 (Preferred)
  • Regulatory experience with CA Waterboard, CARB, and other CA environmental agencies (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding air quality, wastewater, stormwater, and waste management (Preferred)
  • Working experience with industrial stormwater sampling methods and conducting visible emissions observations (EPA Method 9 and 22) (Preferred)
  • Strong knowledge and experience of training methods, procedures, and techniques (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and implement the organization's environmental, health and safety training program to safeguard employees and surrounding communities
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, industrial hygiene and safety/health laws, standards, and regulations
  • Respond to, investigate, and document all EHS incidents
  • Collect, analyze, and document the results of environmental samples from all facilities to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Conduct and report recordkeeping requirements for facility’s permits and other environmental regulatory reporting (such as, stormwater sampling, visible emissions observations)
  • Maintain and organize detailed records for permit requirements
  • Build strong working relationships to support the adherence to environmental, health and safety initiatives
  • Local commuting 75% of time to various Southern California locations; responsibilities shared between the Los Angeles, CA, Rialto, CA, Beaumont, CA and Escondido, CA facilities
  • Travel 10% of the time to Colorado operations
  • Perform other duties assigned
