About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist III is responsible for implementing and monitoring the company's environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role involves maintaining safety equipment inventory, performing periodic safety inspections, monitoring hazardous waste removal vendors, and assisting in the consolidation of hazardous wastes (chemical, radioactive, and/or medical). The EHS Specialist III also monitors environmental compliance and maintains liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies. In this role, you will implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will maintain safety equipment inventory, ensuring all equipment is in proper working condition, and perform periodic safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Monitoring environmental compliance, you will also maintain liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies. You will develop and deliver EHS training programs to employees, conduct risk assessments, and create mitigation strategies to address identified risks. Additionally, you will investigate incidents and near-misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Preparing and submitting required environmental reports and documentation will be a key responsibility, and you will stay current with EHS regulations and industry best practices to ensure alignment with evolving standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +3 yrs experience).
  • Typically 5+ years of related experience in environmental health and safety.
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems such as ISO45001, ISO14001, or similar.
  • Expertise in EHS-related topics such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit-Required Confined Spaces (PRCS), fall protection/prevention, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC), air permitting, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and EHS-specific software.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar.
  • Experience with hazardous waste management and emergency response.
  • Proficiency in EHS software and tools.
  • Professional certifications such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or similar.
  • Understanding of industrial hygiene principles and practices.
  • Experience with hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Familiarity with safety data sheets (SDS) and chemical management.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to develop and deliver EHS training programs.
  • Experience with environmental compliance reporting and documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements.
