Assists and coordinates functions of a comprehensive on-site Injury & Illness Prevention Program (I2P2) to include incipient fire protection and control, hazardous materials and waste management both on project sites and in local satellite offices. Oversees and investigates all local site accidents/injuries; coordinates with Sr. Manager HSE and Occupation nurse regarding the processing of Longshore Harbor Workers (LSHW) Compensation claims, and log recordability. Ensures compliance with Corporate, State, and Federal regulations and guidelines regarding occupational safety & health. Oversees at a local level the development, recommendation, and implementation of general accident preventive programs to include specific protective procedures and devices. Performs safety survey audits side by side with subordinates to identify and evaluate occupational health and safety. Oversees crew and fire watch schedules and carries out periodic safety inspections to identify environmental and occupational hazards. Conducts and coordinates on-site inspections with clients to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Assists in the development of control systems for identified hazards. Provides advice and counsel to the CA production management team concerning all corporate, city, state, and federal compliance regulations. Measures and evaluates the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommends changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries. Directs or assists in the development and/or modification of specialized education and training materials. Assists in the coordination and training for new direct hire and/or contractor employees. Oversees coordination and conducts supervisory and other production safety training programs. Advises management periodically on the status of the safety program and new safety techniques. Compiles, analyzes, interprets, and reports accident, loss, and exposure statistical data as they apply to CA operations. Assists in the preparation of comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards. Reviews, prepares injury and property damage reports, and evaluates root causality. Conducts and prepares specialized safety programs to communicate hazard control information (LOTO, Lanyard and Harness, CSE, etc.). Supervises and coordinates the activities of any subordinate health, safety, fire watch, and environmental staff. Performs other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position. Acts as a Compliance Champion for the organization and works to promote a culture of compliance throughout the organization. Monitors for changes in, and makes recommendations for improvements to comply with laws, rules, regulations, and policies that govern business activities in your department or subject area. Assists in compliance risk assessments and risk reporting in accordance with the Company’s risk assessment program. Develops, provides, and documents compliance training, as applicable. Conducts compliance monitoring, surveillance, and auditing efforts, and assists in investigations of suspected compliance violations.
