About The Position

The Health, Safety & Environment Specialist contributes to improving sustainability performance in an assigned area of responsibility. The role supports implementation of ABB’s group-wide sustainability strategy and business-specific priorities by applying subject-matter knowledge and providing solutions and advice. The specialist shares lessons learned and best practices with management and employees across the team and ABB. The position is onsite in Mebane, North Carolina, and reports to the HSE Manager.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, EHS, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
More than four years of experience in environmental, HSE, or sustainability roles.
Knowledge of air, water, waste, chemical management, and applicable U.S. and North Carolina environmental regulations.
Experience with sustainability projects, energy management, and Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions.
Strong communication, data analysis, project management, training, and employee engagement skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, Excel, and Power BI.

Responsibilities

Assist in reporting sustainability progress related to implementation of group-level sustainability objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Support and promote behavioral change by implementing group-wide and business-specific programs and practices locally.
Contribute to, plan, and execute sustainability-related projects.
Develop project objectives and report progress to management.
