About The Position

The Health, Safety & Environment Specialist contributes to improving sustainability performance in an assigned area of responsibility. The role supports implementation of ABB’s group-wide sustainability strategy and business-specific priorities by applying relevant knowledge, providing solutions and advice, and sharing lessons learned and best practices with management and employees. The position is onsite in Mebane, North Carolina, at 6801 Industrial Drive, and reports to the HSE Manager. The role supports sustainability reporting and initiatives, behavioral change, and sustainability-related projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, EHS, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
More than four years of experience in environmental, HSE, or sustainability roles.
Knowledge of air, water, waste, chemical management, and applicable U.S. and North Carolina environmental regulations.
Experience with sustainability projects, energy management, and Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions.
Solid communication, data analysis, project management, training, and employee engagement skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly desired.
Familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, Excel, and Power BI is highly desired.

Responsibilities

Assist in reporting sustainability progress on implementation of group-level sustainability objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as required.
Support and promote behavioral change through local implementation of group-wide and business-specific programs and practices, maintaining focus on sustainability matters across the organization.
Contribute to and/or plan and execute sustainability-related projects.
Develop project objectives and report progress to management.
Share lessons learned and best practices from the team and across ABB with management and employees.
