About The Position

Simpcw Resources Group (“SRG”) is seeking an experienced HSE Major Projects Advisor to support project teams in maintaining a safe, compliant, and productive work environment. Reporting to the Project Manager, this field-based role serves as a trusted safety resource, providing day-to-day health, safety, and environmental support across active project sites. The HSE Project Advisor works closely with workers, supervisors, and project leadership to promote safe work practices, support regulatory compliance, investigate incidents, facilitate training, and drive continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance. The HSE Project Advisor plays a key role in fostering a proactive safety culture by supporting leading indicator programs, conducting site inspections, participating in hazard assessments, and ensuring personnel have the resources, training, and guidance required to perform their work safely and effectively. This position is primarily site-based and requires regular interaction with field personnel and project stakeholders.

Requirements

Certificate, diploma, or post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline preferred
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive health and safety experience in construction, forestry, pipeline, environmental, industrial, or resource-based operations
Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices
Experience conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up
Strong understanding of Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), tailgate meetings, and leading indicator safety programs
Experience delivering orientations, safety training, coaching, and worker engagement initiatives
Familiarity with safety management systems and software platforms such as SALUS or similar reporting systems
Demonstrated ability to investigate incidents, collect evidence, prepare reports, and support root cause analyses
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with workers, supervisors, clients, and project leadership
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic field environment
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with project teams and operational leaders
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence, with a clean Drivers Abstract with the ability to travel to project sites as required
First Aid certification is considered an asset
Experience working with Indigenous communities is valued
Knowledge of the Simpcw First Nation community is valued

Responsibilities

Prepare and distribute the daily Safety Bulletin, including the TM Fire Danger Rating communication.
Deliver Site-Specific Orientations and maintain accurate attendance records.
Assist personnel in completing mandatory site training requirements when required.
Review Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and tailgate meetings and participate in at least one tailgate meeting daily. Review individual worker FLHAs as needed.
Support the planning and execution of emergency drills and complete one TM Drill Record per site.
Conduct daily site visits and complete Site, Focus, and Advisor Reports within the Salus software platform.
Create and document safety observations arising from site inspections and visits.
Ensure workers have the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety supplies, and assist with distribution when necessary.
Respond to site incidents when available and complete the required four-hour incident reporting requirements when attending the incident scene. Assist the Project Manager with incident investigations, including evidence collection and documentation.
Identify consumable inventory requirements for site and shop locations and communicate replenishment needs to the Corporate HSE Team.
Promote and support the completion of leading indicators that contribute to key performance indicators (KPIs), including: Behaviour-Based Observations (BBOs), Inspections, Near Miss Reports, Hazard Identifications, Safety Reporting Activities.
Collaborate with site personnel to ensure they have the resources, support, and guidance required to perform work safely and effectively.
Coordinate Duty of Care requirements related to post-incident Drug and Alcohol (D&A) testing.
Receive work direction and project priorities through the Project Manager.
Support and enable the safe execution of PAN project activities and operations.
Foster a proactive safety culture by encouraging employee engagement in leading indicator programs.
Provide day-to-day support to workers to promote project success and operational excellence.
Deliver positive reinforcement, coaching, and constructive safety guidance to help achieve project objectives.
Communicate identified risks, operational gaps, concerns, and improvement opportunities to the Project Manager.
Act as a trusted safety resource for project teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
