About The Position

New Horizon Co-op is hiring a Health, Safety and Sustainability Coordinator at our Resource Office in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Co-op does business differently. Requirements

  • High School Diploma plus completion of a one-year certificate program in a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in a similar role or office environment
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Health & Safety management systems
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong observation, incident response, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Health & Safety department, including document preparation, data entry, scanning, and records management
  • Support Health & Safety projects, including the development and updating of resources, policies, procedures, and manuals
  • Coordinate and facilitate required health and safety training for employees and contractors (e.g., WHMIS, TDG, First Aid), and maintain accurate training records
  • Conduct health and safety orientations for new employees and contractors
  • Assist with the review and update of health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative changes and support implementation of program updates as required
  • Assist with incident investigations, hazard identification, reporting, and corrective action tracking
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
