We currently have an exciting opportunity as a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist. This role is based in our Clarkson Distribution Center and reports to the HSE Business Partner. We are looking for a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist to support and maintain HSE management systems across a multi-site environment. The successful candidate will contribute to strategy development, implementation, employee training, and performance monitoring. This role requires occasional travel between sites, with all travel expenses covered by IPEX. While on site, the incumbent will conduct safety observations, support local teams, coordinate risk management activities, help develop safe work practices, and support initiatives that strengthen the health and safety culture. This position also supports the internal audit process to ensure compliance with legal requirements and corporate standards.

Requirements

  • College diploma or university degree in Health, Safety & Environment or a related field (bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Five to seven years of experience in a Health, Safety & Environment role within distribution, manufacturing, or construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable HSE legislation, regulations, and standards, including WHMIS, TDG, CSA, and Canadian regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing and delivering training.
  • Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken
  • Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, risk management, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Experience coordinating activities across multiple sites.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
  • Availability to travel multi sites

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CRSP/CRST, CSP, ASP, CIH, OHST, CPE, CCPE, or equivalent are considered assets.

Responsibilities

  • Support Distribution Centre leadership in implementing HSE programs and adapting initiatives to local requirements.
  • Promote and drive HSE activities across multiple sites to enhance employee engagement and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the HSE team to develop procedures, work instructions, and new initiatives.
  • Conduct gap analyses and develop corrective action plans.
  • Ensure HSE regulatory compliance audits are completed.
  • Participate in investigations related to incidents, accidents, non-conformances, and environmental events, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage and monitor workers’ compensation claims and reporting requirements with regulatory authorities and relevant agencies.
  • Support Health and Safety Committee initiatives.
  • Assist site teams with the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE controls and programs.
  • Maintain HSE documentation, including policies, procedures, standards, manuals, and work instructions.
  • Support environmental compliance initiatives and KPI reporting.
  • Maintain HSE records, databases, and programs.
  • Review hazardous materials programs and related training requirements.
  • Escalate issues requiring additional support or intervention to the HSE Business Partner as needed.
