About The Position

As part of Campus and Student Life at the University of Chicago, UChicago Student Wellness integrates multiple services related to student health and well-being. UChicago Student Wellness provides medical, mental health, and health promotion services to students on the University of Chicago campus. UChicago Student Wellness aims to be the primary resource for exceptional, compassionate, inclusive, and integrated care - shaping a campus culture of well-being, belonging, and growth. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Health Promotion and serving as a key member of the Health Promotion team, the Health Promotion Coordinator leads the operational management, stakeholder coordination, and advanced facilitation of campus-wide wellness initiatives. While focused on delivery, this role is responsible for optimizing program workflows, managing campus partnerships for event execution, and utilizing student feedback to enhance the impact of the department's health promotion vision.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in health promotion, community outreach, project coordination, or large-scale event management.
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing the operational logistics of complex events, clinics, or community-wide initiatives.
  • Experience working within a higher education environment, utilizing student development theories, or supporting student-led peer health programs.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple moving parts, timelines, and program resources independently.
  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to facilitate nuanced wellness discussions and build rapport with diverse student populations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across departmental lines and translate strategic visions into high-impact campus programming.
  • Ability to interpret basic program data and student feedback to make recommendations for program improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and optimizes student-facing program and event logistics, including budget tracking for supplies, vendor management, and institutional resource booking for signature programs such as the Recovery Group and Maroon Mental Health Matters (MMHM).
  • Serves as the primary operational lead for large-scale public health initiatives (e.g., flu clinics), overseeing site logistics, coordinating volunteer and staff schedules, and ensuring compliance with campus safety protocols.
  • Oversees inventory control and asset management for departmental initiatives, developing streamlined processes for supply distribution and tracking.
  • Leads the physical execution, planning, logistics, and on-site management for major campus wellness events and resource fairs, including Wellapalooza, Stress Relief Day, and Pet Love.
  • Coordinates the operational and training requirements for Wellness Ambassador tabling, ensuring student staff are equipped to drive high-impact campus-wide engagement.
  • Collaborates with campus partners and student organizations to integrate Student Wellness resources into broader university events as directed by the Assistant Director.
  • Facilitates high-level, evidence-informed quarterly Health Promotion programming, including Refresh Sleep, Buddy Up!, and Maroon Mental Health Matters, tailoring content delivery to diverse student audiences.
  • Spearheads high-visibility outreach and tabling campaigns (e.g., Stress Relief Day, Pet Love), assessing engagement metrics to continuously improve student reach.
  • Collects and compiles participant data and program evaluations to assist leadership in measuring program efficacy and shaping future wellness strategies.
  • Provides direct day-of task oversight, shift scheduling, and logistical direction to Wellness Ambassadors (student staff) and designated event volunteers during active programming.
  • Participates in the delivery of quality health services to students across the University.
  • With moderate levels of guidance, develops relationships with University stakeholders to ensure seamless health service to students.
  • Assesses, identifies, and proposes innovative programs and policies to encourage healthy lifestyles, to build resilience, address campus health trends, and identify priorities.
