About The Position

The Health Program Coordinator is the lead program specialist responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of public health programs under the jurisdiction of the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). This position provides programmatic leadership and technical guidance to Health Program Specialists and other staff while ensuring that all activities align with state public health goals, agency standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. The Program Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the program manager to guide and support beneficiaries, families, DDS providers and PASSE's by providing technical assistance, advocacy, direction, and mentorship in program development and delivery in a timely manner. The Program Coordinator will oversee the collection, analysis and reporting of program performance data. The Program Coordinator will assist in determining program eligibility for developmental disability services, send referrals to intake and referral as well as other program services as needed, work constituent concerns, gather information for appropriate program admissions/discharges/transitions in service deliveries, respond to telephone and email request for assistance, and other duties as assigned. Coordinate with internal and external partners including local health units, schools, non-profit organizations and other agencies to promote community-based services. The Program Coordinator will interpret policy and guidelines specific to the rights and responsibilities of our beneficiaries and families. Implement and comply with laws, regulations, legal mandates, action plans and agency policy. The Program Coordinator will travel within the state as needed.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, health science, social work, education, public administration, or a closely related field, plus two (2) years of experience in public health, program coordination, or health education.
  • Strong understanding of public health principles, program planning, evaluation methods, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Knowledge of state and federal public health regulations, funding requirements, and data reporting protocols.
  • Proficient in the use of data analysis tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and other program-specific tracking software.
  • Ability to interpret public health data and apply findings to programmatic decisions and communications.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, health science, social work, education, public administration, or a closely related field or (5) years of experience in customer service AND public health, program coordination, or health education.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead coordinator in the design, implementation, and monitoring of assigned public health programs.
  • Guide and support program staff (including Health Program Specialists) by providing technical assistance, direction, and mentorship in program development and delivery.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of program performance data, and use findings to make informed decisions and improvements.
  • Develop comprehensive program plans, logic models, budgets, and timelines, ensuring compliance with grant and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners—including local health units, schools, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and other agencies—to promote community-based services and collaborative efforts.
  • Prepare and manage program documentation, including grant reports, operational plans, training materials, and stakeholder updates.
  • Facilitate or lead trainings, workshops, advisory groups, and public health campaigns relevant to the program’s goals.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the program and recommend or implement policy adjustments as needed.
