About The Position
The incumbent in this position is assigned responsibilities related to preparing, classifying, and abstracting medical reports in the medical records unit. This is not a remote position. Employees are required to report to the facility at the scheduled working hours.
Requirements
- Eligibility for accreditation with the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT); or two years of experience working with patient records in a medical setting such as a hospital, state institution, medical clinic or a physician’s office.
- Valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing medical records for completeness and accuracy and referring incomplete or inaccurate reports to appropriate staff for correction.
- Preparing statistical, case, and other types of reports.
- Preparing materials and forms and gathering all pertinent information and data for admissions and discharges.
- Ensuring all data is properly coded.
