About The Position

Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) is a non-profit organization with over 100 years of experience in Spokane, dedicated to understanding and addressing the behavioral health needs of the community. FBH provides evidence-based treatment to adults, youth, and seniors, operating as a Trauma-Informed Care Organization that believes in client recovery and fulfilling lives. The Health Information Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring client records are maintained in compliance with FBH, state, and federal regulations regarding privacy and confidentiality. This position involves performing the daily functions of the Medical Records department and adhering to FBH policies for protecting client information. The role requires flexibility to work at various FBH locations, sometimes within the same day. This specific position is for the Calispel Inpatient Unit, working Saturdays and Sundays from 8 AM to 5 PM, is a 0.4 FTE (16 hours per week), and is not benefit-eligible except for participation in the 403b plan.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to work in a team environment, in a group setting, and in collaboration with others from diverse backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year experience in Medical Records processing.
  • College education or completed Health Records course may be substituted for experience.
  • Experience in working with Electronic Health Records.

Responsibilities

  • Take inbound/outbound phone calls with maximum confidentiality and courtesy with FBH staff, clients, and community partners.
  • Provide charts and clinical records to FBH staff.
  • Enter/scan client records into the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Process daily incoming US Mail, interoffice mail, and e-mails.
  • Comply with State and Federal regulations for maintenance and storage of client information.
  • Comply with all State and Federal regulations related to HIPAA.
  • Maintain quality customer service to ensure that staff, clients and community partners have a positive experience with FBH.
  • Adhere to FBH policies and procedures as outlined in the Medical Records department, in conjunction with all FBH policies.
  • Process and complete data reports related to client information, disclosing records, notifying staff, and information related to contract reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
