About The Position

The Health Information Technician ensures that client records are maintained in compliance with FBH, state and federal regulations related to privacy and confidentiality. The Health Information Technician performs day-to-day functions of the Medical Records department and follows FBH policies in protecting client information. This job may perform work at any FBH location, flexibility to work at varying locations, sometimes within the same day is required. SHIFT - CALISPEL INPATIENT UNIT - SATURDAY & SUNDAY 8AM-5PM - .4 FTE - NOT BENEFIT ELIGIBLE.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong preference for experience in working with Electronic Health Records.
  • Strong communication skills, including both verbally and in written format.
  • Able to work in a team environment, in a group setting, and in collaboration with others from diverse backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year experience in Medical Records processing.
  • College education or completed Health Records course may be substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

  • Take inbound/outbound phone calls with maximum confidentiality and courtesy with FBH staff, clients, and community partners.
  • Provide charts and clinical records to FBH staff.
  • Enter/scan client records into the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Process daily incoming US Mail, interoffice mail, and e-mails.
  • Comply with State and Federal regulations for maintenance and storage of client information.
  • Comply with all State and Federal regulations related to HIPAA.
  • Maintain quality customer service to ensure that staff, clients and community partners have a positive experience with FBH.
  • Adhere to FBH policies and procedures as outlined in the Medical Records department, in conjunction with all FBH policies.
  • Process and complete data reports related to client information, disclosing records, notifying staff, and information related to contract reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
