About The Position

The overall purpose of this position is to supervise and coordinate day‐to‐day responsibilities of staff within the Health Information Management (HIM) office. This role is for a Full-Time Health Information Supervisor for the Tarrytown Corporate office location.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes HIM department goals by selecting, motivating, and training team members.
  • Leads the activities of assigned HIM team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates the performance of staff; ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.
  • Prioritizes, assigns, and monitors work to optimize operational service; recommends, implements, and monitors work-flow changes.
  • Maintains compliance with the policies and procedures of ENTA; ensures patient medical records conform to and applicable laws and regulations, including at the local, state (in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas and any other regions the practice grows) and federal levels.
  • Serves as a liaison between HIM and other departments responsible for the maintenance and scanning of medical records while working closely with IT to ensure health information systems are effective and meet the needs of the HIM department to support a complete medical record.
  • Establishes mechanisms to measure adherence to system(s) developed, and to handle delays and system errors; evaluates systems and implements modifications to ensure adherence to high quality Medical Records standards.
  • Compiles data into reports, noting trends, and patterns in procedures.
  • Oversees Release of Information (ROI) processes through a centralized HIM model, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, and organizational privacy policies.
  • Participates in audits related to documentation, record management and billing.
  • Partners with Operations, Clinical, Revenue Cycle, Compliance, Quality, Legal and IT teams on system optimization and process redesign.
  • Performs related duties as required.
