About The Position

The incumbent in this position is assigned responsibilities related to preparing, classifying, and abstracting medical reports in the medical records unit. Typical job functions include but are not limited to: Reviewing medical records for completeness and accuracy and referring incomplete or inaccurate reports to appropriate staff for correction. Preparing statistical, case, and other types of reports. Preparing materials and forms and gathering all pertinent information and data for admissions and discharges. Ensuring all data is properly coded.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for accreditation with the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT); or two years of experience working with patient records in a medical setting such as a hospital, state institution, medical clinic or a physician’s office.
  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
