As a Health Information Management Technician, you’re embracing a vital mission dedicated to making communities healthier. This role provides clerical support along with scanning duties in the functional areas of data compilation, quantitative analysis and verification of records, maintenance of files and correspondence in the HIM Department. The technician analyzes assembled records for chart completion deficiencies, assigns deficiencies to the appropriate medical staff member, and ensures data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes. They review documentation and update or clear deficiencies as appropriate. The role also involves answering telephone calls, assisting visitors, retrieving and logging medical records, notifying the Director of any outstanding records or issues, and taking on-call rotation for record retrieval and fax transfers. Additionally, the technician assists with other HIM daily functions, works closely with physicians to ensure they are set up to dictate into the system, trains physicians/APRNs to dictate and e-sign, ensures completion of records for joint commission standards, works the hold queue for the dictation system, makes physicians aware of late dictations, and performs data entry for still births.
