About The Position

Up Health System-Portage, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Health Information Management Supervisor. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the Health Information Management department by coordinating daily staffing, providing staff development, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The supervisor will also handle complex issues and contribute to the overall mission of making communities healthier.

Requirements

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• RHIT or RHIA certifications.
• Lead the work of others who perform essentially the same work. May set priorities, schedule and review work, but have no responsibility to hire, terminate, review performance and/or make pay decisions.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s Degree in related field preferred
• Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education

Responsibilities

• Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.
• Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff.
• Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs.
• Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
• Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.
